Aeroplane sound not heard during night?

folks, when aeroplane flies on the sky, we hear the sound during day time, that is people on the ground look the sky when plane passes over due to its sound. but why there is no sound produced by plane during night time or we people on the ground does not hear any sound of plane when it flies on the sky during night time? help will be greatly appreciated
