USAF Museum Air Force One
October 10, 2009
Boeing VC-137C SAM 26000 – in which Lyndon Johnson was sworn in as President following the assassination of president John F. Kennedy – will go into the restoration area at The National Museum of the United States Air Force at Dayton, Ohio on December 5 to be repainted in its original presidential colour scheme. The aircraft was the first jet powered Air Force One, entering service in 1962 and flying a total of eight US Presidents before being retired and delivered to the museum in the spring of 1998. The historic machine is due to return to the Presidential Gallery in February 2010
