The restoration of combat veteran Douglas A-26C Invader 43-22499 to its original World War Two configuration is proceeding apace at the New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, USA. The solid nose that had been fitted post-war has been replaced by a glazed bombardier nose that was recently acquired from an owner in California. Manufacture of the nose- glazing has been commissioned, and a pilot’s control console, acquired from Airspray in Canada, is being worked on.

This A-26, named Reida Rae, was delivered to France in December 1944, left, and flew 39 combat missions with the USAAF’s 671st Bomb Squadron, 416th Bomb Group.
